Reminder – Newstead Avenue street improvements project continues

Workers continue to finish phase 2 construction, start work on phase 3a and mobilize for phase 3 construction on the Newstead Avenue street improvement project.

PHASE 2 – Newstead – Metro Tracks to Duncan

Please see the diagram of the construction area for phase 2. Phase 2 construction is ongoing and anticipated to continue through early April, pending weather.

Lane Closures – During phase 2, the existing north bound lane of the roadway will be periodically closed to traffic, and traffic control measures will be temporarily applied to the center lane/universal lane which will be used as the northbound lane. Please anticipate construction vehicles entering and exiting the street.

PHASE 3A – Newstead – In Front of the CAB Daycare Center – Starts Week of 3/9/20

Please see the diagram of the construction area for phase 3a. Phase 3a construction began the week of March 9, 2020 and continues through mid-April, pending weather.

Lane Closures – During phase 3a, the existing north bound lane of the roadway will be closed to traffic and the center lane/universal lane will be temporarily re-striped to be used as the northbound lane, in front of the CAB Daycare Center. Additionally, the entrance to the CAB Daycare Center will be temporarily relocated further to the south to allow work to proceed. Please anticipate construction vehicles entering and exiting the street.

PHASE 3 – Newstead – South of the METRO Tracks to Clayton Ave. – Starts Week of 3/16/20

Please see the diagram of the construction area for phase 3. Phase 3 construction is anticipated to begin the week of March 16, 2020 and continue through May, pending weather.

Lane Closures – During phase 3, the existing north bound lane of the roadway will be closed to traffic and the center lane/universal lane will be temporarily re-striped to be used as the northbound lane, from Clayton Ave. to the CAB Daycare Center.
Please anticipate construction vehicles entering and exiting the street.

If your commute to work includes driving Newstead Avenue, please plan additional time for your commute to work, in anticipation of delays, congestion, changes to traffic and traffic patterns due to construction during this project.
