Reminder – Newstead Avenue street improvements project continues

Workers continue to finish phase 3 and 3a construction, start work on phases 4 and 5 construction on the Newstead Avenue street improvement project.
PHASE 3A – Newstead – In Front of the CAB Daycare Center
Phase 3A construction is substantially complete, and the CAB Daycare Center entrance has been re-opened in place. Please anticipate congestion due to construction, as construction activities continue in the adjacent areas.
PHASE 3 – Newstead – South of the METRO Tracks to Clayton Ave.
Please see the diagram of the construction area for Phase 3. Phase 3 construction is ongoing and expected to continue through May, pending weather.
Lane Closures – During Phase 3, the existing north bound lane of the roadway will be closed to traffic and the center lane/universal lane will be temporarily used as the northbound lane, from Clayton Ave. to the CAB Daycare Center. Please anticipate construction vehicles entering and exiting the street.
PHASE 4 – Clayton Ave. – West Bound Lanes at Newstead Traffic Signal

The Phase 4 Clayton Ave. shutdown of the west bound lanes is planned for tomorrow at 6am through May 3 at 5pm.
Lane Closures – During Phase 4, the existing west bound lanes of the roadway will be closed to traffic between Tower Grove Ave. and Newstead Ave. Please anticipate this road closure and please use Boyle, Duncan and Choteau Avenues to route around the closure during this weekend.
PHASE 5 – Clayton Ave. West Bound Lanes – North of the Right-Hand Turn Lane at Newstead

Phase 5 construction is expected to start on May 4 and continue through early June, pending weather.
Lane Closures – During Phase 5, construction will be installing a new dedicated right hand turn lane just north of the existing west bound lane of Clayton Ave. at the Newstead Ave. intersection. Work will primarily occur behind the current curb line and in the existing parking lot. Please anticipate construction vehicles entering and exiting the street, and congestion due to construction, as construction activities continue in the adjacent areas.
If your commute to work includes driving Newstead Ave., please plan additional time for your commute to work, in anticipation of delays, congestion, changes to traffic and traffic patterns due to construction during this project.
