Facilities Operations Update

Medical Center street work at Newstead and Duncan Avenues starts today (4/5/21)

Sent on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Street work will begin today (4/5/21) on the Medical Campus that includes work on Duncan Avenue, between Newstead Avenue and Boyle Avenue and on Newstead, between Duncan and Clayton Avenue.

Workers will be constructing two new TFC duct-bank building entries for the WUSM Neurosciences Research Building. The first is on the south side of Duncan on the north face of the NRB Building. The second will begin on Newstead, south of Duncan, north of the Metro Link tracks and go eastward crossing the northbound lanes on Newstead, continuing east to an entry point on the south face of the NRB Building.

This work will include the installation of a concrete enclosed, 4” conduit duct-bank. The Duncan work will be in the sidewalk at the eastbound, southern curb lane. The Newstead work will begin in the center of Newstead, crossing eastward, across the northbound lane to a point on the east curb, then onto the NRB site.

Weather permitting, the planned duration of this work is through close of business on May 21, 2021.

All street work will be performed during the day beginning at approximately 7:00am and ending at 6:00pm Monday through Friday.

There will be lane shifts during preparation, execution of work, and cleanup, in the work area on Newstead and possibly on Duncan. During the work on Newstead, traffic control will be provided per the traffic control plan to address street and daycare traffic. Plating will be placed at the end of each shift and all lanes on Newstead should be open for traffic at night, then removed at approximately 6:00am to accommodate construction. Some construction equipment may be staged on the street near the work area for the duration of the project.
