Facilities Operations Update

Plaza Entry project update-demolition work

Sent on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Over the past several weeks, contractors have been installing plywood protection over windows along the street level of the hospital’s Plaza Lobby in preparation for the demolition of the canopy that extends over the sidewalk.

To minimize the disruption to daytime work and surgeries on the hospital floors above, the canopy demolition will take place each evening starting at 8 and continue through 7 a.m., This work began Wednesday, July 27. Demolition of the canopy and foundations will take place Monday-Friday nights for approximately 3-4 weeks.

The street and bridge level entrances into the hospital will not be affected.

Watch this week’s Monday video, and watch for an update Thursday.

Noise and vibration monitoring will be taking place during the demolition, with thresholds established and a process to pause work if the thresholds are exceeded. The McCarthy and BJC project team has worked closely with affected departments to ensure coordination during demolition.
