The School of Medicine utilizes an integrated planning strategy in our quest for building campus connections. Integrated planning allows for improved physical, social, research, clinical and academic connections, all of which are essential to improving the campus community experience for visitors, patients, students and employees.

Enhancing Campus & Community

Center for Advanced Medicine (CAM) Re-Stacking

An Ambulatory plan was completed in 2017 which projected adult ambulatory growth for the School of Medicine. The CAM will be re-stacked and services and specialties within this location will expand to provide space for the growing clinical demand.

We have expanded campus amenities, including two new food venues, a new convenience bookstore and two FedEx Office locations on campus.

Enhancing Campus & Community

We created a new Washington University Medical Campus Campus Store with more focused offerings. We also added two new food service operations in 2017. Please visit the Auxiliary Services page for an overview of food services.

Past projects in support of our education mission include the expansion and renovation of the following locations which were completed from 2016 – 2018:

  • Medical Student Admissions – North Medical Building
  • Office of Diversity Programs – North Medical Building
  • Continuing Medical Education – Clinical Sciences Research Building Link
  • Student and Occupational Health Services – East Building
  • Renovation of Becker Medical Library and the addition of offices on the upper levels for DBBS, Student Affairs, OMSE, Informatics, Biostatistics, as well as other key programs.

In 2019/2020, we are actively planning for new interactive classroom spaces, renovations of the third and fourth floor of the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center and a recording studio in the lower level of the Becker Medical Library.

In addition, we continue to provide and enhance the shared education and meeting spaces, for all members of the campus community. We also support campus life with a new chapel, interfaith office and a medical society homeroom (Cancer Research Building).
