Faculty, Staff & Student Parking

Please note, non-ADA reserved parking is no longer sold on campus and permits are grandfathered until surrendered.

Online registration is available for WUSM Employees for the Clayton and Newstead (Neuroscience Research Building) Garages and the 1234 S. Kingshighway parking lot by logging in with your WUSTL key. You can also visit the FISC located in the Mid Campus Center to complete registration. You will need your license plate information on-hand.

Faculty and staff parking fees will be collected by payroll deduction.  Student parking fees will be billed to student accounts for the entire school year.

Faculty, staff and students also have the option to purchase a discounted debit card for occasional parking.  To purchase a debit card, please visit the Clayton Taylor Garage attendant’s booth located at 4485 Clayton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110 with a valid WUSM ID badge.

* Parking is non-transferable, non-refundable and is not prorated. No refunds for parking permits, parking access cards or WUSM debit cards will be issued. 

*Any parking cancelations must be received by the 3rd of the month. Please visit the FISC Desk (1st floor, Mid Campus Center) to cancel or email medparking@wustl.edu.

Carpool Parking

Carpool parking is offered in the Clayton Garage and on select surface lots as availability allows.  A garage specific access card or surface lot specific permit will be issued at the time of registration.

Reciprocal Parking

Reciprocal parking is available for those who commute to and from the WU Danforth, North, or West campus. You must hold an active, paid permit to be eligible.

After-Hours Parking

All employees and students are eligible for After-Hours access in the Clayton garage. Clinical employees, residents, & fellows with paid parking are eligible for After-Hours access in the Metro Garage.


WUSM Debit Cards

WUSM employees and students may purchase a WUSM Debit Card for the Clayton or Newstead (Neuroscience Research Building) Garages to receive a discounted daily rate. As of October 2, 2023, the daily rate for the Newstead Garage is $4/day and the Clayton Garage is $8/day.

To register for and pre-load a WUSM Debit Card, please visit the Clayton Garage attendant’s booth (open 8 am – 6 pm, Monday – Friday) on foot at the pedestrian door. Please present a valid WUSM ID Badge at the time of registration.

At the time of registration, you must load at least $8 for the Newstead Garage or $16 for the Clayton Garage onto the card. Replacement WUSM Debit cards can be requested for a $8 fee for the Newstead Garage or a $16 fee for the Clayton Garage.

All WUSM debit cards are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Parking is not guaranteed for debit pass holders.


Visitor Parking

Visitor parking is available on an hourly basis in the Clayton, Newstead or Metro Garages.  The St. Louis City Treasurer’s Office maintains parking meters around campus as well.

The WUSM On-Campus Garage Rates are as follows:

Danforth Campus Parking Information
Electric Vehicle (EV) Parking

EV charging stations are located in the Clayton, Newstead and Metro Garages. The charging unit must be provided by the EV owner. The EV spaces in the Clayton and Newstead Garages are WUSM permit-required. The Metro Garage has a limited amount of EV spaces on the 3rd floor of the garage and a permit is not required to use these two spaces, as they are first-come, first-serve. The Newstead Garage includes 36 EV spots in the garage (levels 4 and above – 6 on each level).

Vehicles parking in the designated EV spaces must be electric and plugged in when using the Clayton, Newstead and Metro Garage spaces.

EV parkers can sign up for a Clayton or Newstead Garage EV permit at the FISC Desk (first floor, Mid Campus Center), pending availability. Please view our monthly rates for the most updated EV permit rate.

Enterprise CarShare Program

Washington University has partnered with Enterprise to bring a CarShare program to the School of Medicine campus.

CarSharing allows authorized employees and students automated access to on-site vehicles anytime they need them. Automated vehicle technology allows employees to scan into the vehicle they need for the job and go!

Disabled Accessibility Parking

Community members requiring a disabled parking permit may establish their eligibility and purchase a disabled permit at the FISC (first floor, Mid Campus Center). You may call 314-362-3100 or email WUSMFacilities@email.wustl.edu with any additional questions.

Validation Requests

Clayton, Newstead or Metro Garage or 4444 west lot validation tickets may be requested (subject to availability) for the patient, guest/visitor, or event use only.  Tickets are issued at 100% validation upon exit for the user.  Requesting departments of Medical Center entities are billed monthly based on hourly usage of tickets issued.  A validation request form must be completed and sent to MedParking@wustl.edu for review and approval. Campus Transportation

The university offers a number of transportation options. Metro St. Louis provides transportation near and around the WUSM campus. If you are not a WUSM full-time student or benefits-eligible faculty or staff member with a current U-Pass, you will be required to pay the applicable Metro fare for your transportation.

The Washington University Medical Center (WUMC) offers its community multiple transportation options to, from and on campus. Currently, forty-seven percent of the School of Medicine community use transportation other than single-occupancy vehicles. WUMC has a suite of activities to maintain or expand that rate and ensure the Medical Center community is satisfied with the quality and safety of campus transportation options.

Bicycles

The School of Medicine offers many bicycle amenities, including shower facilities, bike fix-it stations, and ample parking. Please view this interactive map to explore these amenities.

Parking Tickets, Vehicle Booting, & Towing

Parking violations may be paid at the Facilities Integrated Customer Service Center (FISC) on the first floor of 4590 Nash Way, St. Louis, MO 63110. You can also visit  https://commerce.cashnet.com/MEDPARK to pay with a credit card. Disputes must be sent to MedParking@wustl.edu, including explanations for why a parker is disputing a ticket.

Some violations to parking regulations could result, in addition to a citation, in the vehicle being booted or towed from campus without prior notice.

Such violations include:

  • Vehicles parked in a fire lane or restricted zone. Campus fire lanes must always be kept clear to allow appropriate response from emergency teams if necessary.
  • Vehicles parked in areas not specifically designated for parking.
  • Vehicles parked in areas designated for Visitor Parking Only (employees and students of the University are not considered visitors to campus).
  • Vehicles parked illegally in a space designated as disabled.
  • Vehicles parked in patient spaces.
  • Vehicles parked illegally at a service dock.
  • Vehicles with three or more outstanding tickets
  • In addition to the $500 fine for displaying a lost, stolen, invalid or fraudulent annual, monthly or daily permit, the car will be booted or towed at the owner’s expense. The violator could also have their parking privileges revoked, and the owner may be referred for criminal prosecution.
Pedestrian & Vehicular Safety & Education Program

The Operations & Facilities Management Department’s Pedestrian & Vehicular Safety & Education Program works to address the pedestrian and vehicular safety needs on the WUSM campus.

The program provides campus education services that seek to improve pedestrian and vehicular safety and to encourage more walking by creating an environment where pedestrians can walk safely and comfortably.

We provide well maintained parking programs to support the university’s sustainability goals, enforcement to protect the rights of permit holders and visitors, support for campus events, safe, convenient and reliable alternate modes of transportation and the management of information resources pertaining to parking facilities and transportation services.

The parking rules and regulations at Washington University School of Medicine are enforced at all times. All vehicles on campus are subject to Washington University’s parking regulations. Each operator is responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules.

Firearms (concealed or otherwise) are prohibited on all university-owned property. Firearms may NOT be stowed in vehicles parked in university parking lots, garages or metered spaces.
