Thank you for your continuing ridership on Metro as you commute daily to work. As you travel, we want to ensure that you are safe, understand COVID-19 requirements and know how to report any concerns.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Metro is instituting the following guidelines for MetroBus, MetroLink and Metro Call-A-Ride service. Riders are urged to familiarize themselves with these guidelines.

Enhanced cleaning

Metro is regularly disinfecting high-touch surfaces on all Metro vehicles, transit centers and MetroLink stations. Vehicles with unsanitary conditions are temporarily being removed from service for disinfecting. Handwashing stations have been installed at multiple stations, including those in the Central West End.

Social distancing

All MetroLink passengers may board and exit trains using all doors except for the first door located near the operator. While on the MetroLink, all riders must stand behind the orange or yellow line to maintain social distancing. Educational signage and audio announcements on communicating these important safety protocols are in place throughout the transit system.

Face coverings

Face coverings are mandatory for all Metro Transit customers and employees when riding MetroBus, MetroLink or Metro Call-A-Ride services. Face coverings must fit over your nose and mouth. Non-medical masks, scarves, handkerchiefs, bandanas and other types of cloth coverings are permitted. The face covering must be worn during your entire trip on a Metro Transit vehicle. This policy does not apply to children ages 2 and under, and customers who have trouble breathing, are incapacitated, or are unable to remove the cover without assistance. Customers with these exceptions should notify the operator before boarding. Those who are not wearing a face covering will not be permitted to board Metro Transit vehicles. Metro follows public transit recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and a requirement issued by the State of Illinois asking people to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when in a public environment where social distancing is not always possible.

Metro customers can contact the Metro Transit team Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 6  p.m., via phone (314-231-2345), text message (314-207-9786), email (customerservice@metrostlouis.org), Twitter (@STLMetro), or Facebook.
