Synopsis:   A WUSM employee parked her vehicle in the parking lot behind the Project Ark/The Spot building. Sometime during the day, an unknown person stole the registration tags from both license plates. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:   A WUSM employee parked his bicycle at the Euclid Power Plant Bike rack, secured with a cable lock. When he returned to the rack, the bike was gone. CCTV footage revealed two subjects cut the cable lock and stole the bicycle. Protective Services is investigating. UPDATE 6/7/2023: One of the subjects involved in the bicycle theft was located on campus and arrested. The SLMPD took custody of the subject. The bicycle was not recovered.
Disposition: Suspect Arrested. Judicial Disposition Unknown.

Location: Ambulatory Cancer Center (ACC) Contractor Parking Lot
Synopsis:   A contractor working on the ACC construction site reported a key fob was stolen from her vehicle. The contractor left the vehicle unlocked with the hope of preventing a window from being broken should the vehicle be targeted for theft. When she returned to the vehicle, the center console was opened and rummaged through. The only item taken from the vehicle was the key fob. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Clinical Sciences Research Building (CSRB) Bike Corral
Synopsis:   On 6/11/2023, a WUSM employee made a delayed report of a bike theft from the CSRB bike corral. The employee placed his bike in the corral on 6/10/2023 at 6:45 pm. He did not secure the bicycle to the rack within the corral. At approximately 9:42 pm, a subject was able to reach over the fence and access the gate handle to open the corral entry gate. The subject then stole the bicycle. A BOLO was disseminated to campus security and the subject was identified by an officer. An updated BOLO has been disseminated to campus security for the person responsible for the theft.
Disposition: Suspect Identified.

Synopsis:  On 6/15/2023, a WUSM employee flagged down a Protective Services officer to say that someone stole a handicap placard and CDs from his vehicle the day before. The employee had been issued a citation for parking in a handicap space without a placard. The employee reported that he left his windows partially opened. When he returned to his vehicle, his ash tray had been turned over, items were moved around his car, and the placard and CDs were gone. The officer who issued the citation reported the windows were up and the vehicle was not in disarray at the time the citation was issued. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A Barnes-Jewish employee reported her cellphone was stolen. The cellphone was in a case that included credit cards and IDs. The credit cards were used later in the day. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A physician parked his bicycle in the CSRB bike corral on 6/18/2023. He believed he secured the bicycle to the rack with a cable lock. However, CCTV footage revealed the bike was not secured to the rack. Upon his return to the corral on 6/21/2023, the bicycle was gone. A review of CCTV footage showed an unidentified subject climbed the fence to the corral and stole the bicycle. A relevant BOLO was disseminated to campus security.

Synopsis:  A visitor secured his bicycle to the MCC bike rack on 6/24/2023 and departed campus. Upon his return later in the evening, his bicycle was gone. A review of CCTV footage showed an unidentified subject defeated the cable lock and stole the bicycle. A relevant BOLO was disseminated to campus security.

Location: 4480 Clayton Ave. Rear Surface Lot
Synopsis:  An employee reported a large floor mat was missing after she power washed it and left it out to dry on the rear surface lot of the 4480 Clayton Ave. Building. The employee washed the mat on 7/3/2023 but did not return for it until 7/6/2023. CCTV revealed a different employee took the mat without permission on 7/5/2023. The employee was confronted and returned the mat.

Synopsis:  While monitoring CCTV, Protective Services dispatchers observed an unidentified subject possibly tampering with bicycles parked at the Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack. He handled several bicycles before taking an unsecured bicycle from the rack. The subject left the area prior to officers arriving on scene. The owner of the bicycle is unknown. The owner has not reported the bicycle missing. Protective Services is investigating.
