Location: Clinical Sciences Research Building (CSRB) Bike Corral
Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the CSRB bike corral after Children's Hospital Public Safety officers reported witnessing a subject jump the corral and steal a bicycle. The officers attempted to detain the subject, but the subject abandoned the bike and ran away. The CHPS officers were attempting to return the bike to the corral. Barnes Jewish Hospital Public Safety officers located the subject near the Mid Campus Center and took him into custody. The SLMPD was called but declined to respond. The subject was released with a warning against future trespass.

Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the 8th floor of the MIR for a report of suspicious activity. Employees reported signs of someone sleeping in one of the rooms. A chair was moved and blankets were in the area that were not present the night before. A spray bottle and boxes of gloves were missing from the room. Other suspicious activity had been observed by staff for the previous three months. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack, East McDonnell Specialized Research Facility (ECMD) Bike Corral
Synopsis: Protective Services took a delayed phone report of a stolen bicycle. A BJC employee parked his bicycle at the Euclid Power Plant bike rack on 7/31/2025 and secured it with a cable lock. He went to retrieve the bike on 8/1/2025. However, the bike was gone from the rack. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed two unidentified subjects stole the bike from the rack on 7/31/2025 at 10:15pm. Both subjects then went to the ECMD bike corral where one subject jumped the fence. He removed a scooter from the corral. Both subjects rode their stolen item to the MetroLink and departed campus. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: A WashU Med student reported the theft of his bicycle from the Euclid Power Plant bike rack. He parked his bicycle at the rack and secured it with a cable lock at about 9:20am. When he returned at 2:30pm, the bike and the lock were gone. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed an unidentified subject stole the bicycle from the rack at about 1:30pm. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the 3rd floor of the Fort Labs building for a report of a theft. An employee reported his backpack containing a MacBook and chargers was missing from his cubicle. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed a known trespasser was able to "piggy-back" into the building and make his way to the 3rd floor. From there he accessed interior lab space through a propped door and stole the backpack. He left campus via the MetroLink. The SLMPD was notified and generated a report. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the Farmstead Cafe for a report of a larceny. Staff reported an unidentified subject went through the food line and stole a couple of bags of chips. Staff attempted to stop him. However, he cursed at them and left the area. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the 10th floor of the MCC for a report of a missing docking station. Employees noticed the docking station was missing earlier in the week. In addition, employees noticed chargers and other items have gone missing over the past several months. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the Clayton Garage for a report of a theft. An employee parked her vehicle in the garage at about 11:00am. When she returned at around 6:40pm, she noticed the rear license plate was missing from the vehicle. She then observed that the front license plate was also gone. A review of CCTV footage at the garage entrance showed the employee's vehicle displayed both plates upon entry. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: Protective Services officers responded to the 7th floor of the BJCIH for a report of a larceny. An employee reported his backpack was stolen from a room while he was in a meeting. The backpack contained his personal laptop and other items. The employee was able to locate his laptop using the FindMy app. However, the other items in the backpack were not recovered. Later, that same day, Protective Services officers were called back to the 7th floor of the BJCIH for a report of a recovered missing backpack. An employee left his backpack in a room on the 7th floor. When he returned, the backpack was missing. The employee used an Apple Airtag he had previously attached to the bag to track it to the stairwell. The employee located the backpack with all contents accounted for. He located an additional backpack containing a pair of headphones. That backpack was returned to its owner who was unaware that it was missing. All contents of that bag were accounted for. Later that same day, Protective Services officers responded to the Couch Building to speak with an employee who discovered several debit and credit cards missing from her purse. She had been working on the 7th floor of the BJCIH earlier in the day. She left for a short time and when she returned, she noticed a gift card was on the floor by her purse. She then realized several credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards were missing from her purse. She received an alert from her bank about fraudulent use on her cards. A review of CCTV footage in the area revealed a known trespasser was on the 7th floor of the BJCIH in the time frame of the thefts. A report was made to the SLMPD. A BOLO was sent to campus security to attempt to locate the responsible subject. UPDATE: Suspect arrested on 10/3/2025

Synopsis: A Protective Services officer observed a suspicious person enter the MCC without using or displaying an ID badge. The subject then entered the campus bookstore. The officer observed the subject take items from the drink cooler and then attempt to leave the store. The officer confronted the subject about the theft. The subject left his bag filled with personal items and two stolen drinks. He fled the area and left campus before officers could locate him. The stolen drinks were returned.
