Synopsis:  A WUSM employee working on the 8th floor of the Wohl Clinic heard someone going through drawers and cabinets in her suite. She believed she was the only one working at that time. She got up to check and saw an unfamiliar man. He appeared startled to see her and immediately left the area. The employee called Protective Services and provided a description of the man. Officers located the man attempting to leave Wohl Clinic. They detained him and determined he had stolen items from the Wohl Clinic. SLMPD responded to campus and took the subject into custody.
Disposition: Suspect arrested. Judicial disposition unknown.

Location: Cortex One Surface Parking Lot
Synopsis:  A contractor was parking his vehicle on the Cortex One surface lot when he heard a car alarm sounding. He observed an unknown subject enter the broken out passenger side window of a truck parked nearby. The subject then jumped into a waiting Kia Optima that was reported stolen in St. Louis City earlier. The subjects displayed a weapon as they drove off the lot. The owner of the truck that was broken into reported cash and baseball cap was missing. He contacted the SLMPD and made a report.
Disposition: Referred to SLMPD. Disposition unknown.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:  While watching CCTV footage in real time, a Protective Services communications officer observed three subjects near the Euclid Power Plant bike rack, tampering with bicycles. One subject stole a bicycle and rode through campus on it. Protective Services and BJH Public Safety officers attempted to make contact with the subjects, however they were able to evade officers. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:  While watching CCTV footage in real time, a Protective Services communications officer observed a subject steal a bicycle. Officers followed the subject north of campus into the Central West End. They were able to make contact, identify and detain the subject. The stolen bicycle was recovered. The subject was in possession of two knives, pepper spray, and two toy handguns designed to look real. The SLMPD responded to campus and took the subject into custody.
Disposition: Suspect arrested. Judicial disposition unknown.

Location: Mid Campus Center (MCC) Bike Rack
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported his bicycle was missing after locking it with a cable lock to the MCC bike rack. A review of CCTV footage showed an unknown subject stole the bicycle several hours after the employee left it. The subject rode the bike north on Euclid Ave., ultimately leaving campus.  Protective Services is investigating. Update 8/26/2022 - On 8/25/2022, the SLMPD located, identified, and arrested the suspect.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of her backpack from her workspace in her office. The backpack contained her wallet and keys. It also was equipped with an Apple AirTag that was pinging near the Children's Place. The area was searched with negative results. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  An employee reported the theft of GoPro from a secured 4th floor office. The GoPro was last seen around April. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: 4444 Forest Park Ave.
Synopsis:  An employee reported the theft of her bicycle from the south bike rack at the 4444 Forest Park Ave. Building. The bicycle was secured with a cable lock. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed an unknown subject cut discreetly cut the cable lock and left the area. He returned less than five minutes later and took the bike in full view of several people at the bike rack. He immediately left campus with the bike. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the rear license plate missing from her vehicle after it had been parked in the 4511 Forest Park Ave. surface lot for the day. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed an unknown subject removed the license plate at approximately 1:30 pm and immediately left campus. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of her wallet from an unsecured office on the 8th floor of the Wohl Clinic. Employees reported an unknown subject was in Wohl Clinic selling candy bars. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed a known trespasser was in the area at the time. The employee's credit card was used at a nearby business. The employee made a report to the SLMPD. Protective Services is assisting in the investigation.
