Location: Center for Outpatient Health 5th Floor
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee set two boxes out at the FedEx pickup location on the 5th floor of the Center for Outpatient Health. She was later notified that one of the boxes was disturbed. She investigated that claim and determined one box was missing and one box had been knocked over with the contents spilling out. She repackaged the box for FedEx. She later determined the second box was not picked up by FedEx and was missing or stolen. Protective Services is investigating.

Larceny/Tampering with Motor Vehicle

Location: McKinley Ave.
Synopsis:  A WUSM visiting researcher parked his vehicle on McKinley Ave. while studying in the library. Upon returning to the vehicle, he found a window had been shattered and the steering column casing was removed. In addition, cash was stolen from the vehicle.  A review of CCTV footage in the area showed a silver Kia driving suspiciously in the area during the time the vehicle was parked on McKinley. A report was made to the SLMPD. Protective Services is assisting in the investigation.
Disposition:  Referred to the SLMPD. Investigation Ongoing

Location: East Imaging Building
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of several food items from a break room freezer. The employee placed the food in the freezer on 9/28/2022 before leaving for the day. Upon returning to work on 9/29/2022, the food was gone from the freezer.  Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Mid Campus Center (MCC) Bike Rack
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of his bike from the MCC bike rack. The bike was secured to the rack with a chain. A review of CCTV footage showed two subjects tampering with the bicycle. One subject took the bicycle and rode off campus with it. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Mid Campus Center (MCC) Book Store
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of a backpack from the MCC bookstore. A subject walked in, stole the backpack and immediately left the area. After reviewing CCTV footage of the subject, a Protective Services officer recognized and identified the man. Later that day, the same subject was located at the Metro Bus Depot. Officers stopped and questioned the man who reported that he had already sold the backpack for cash. The officers warned the subject against future trespass and escorted him from campus.
Disposition:  Subject identified and removed from campus.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of his bike from the CSRB bike rack.  The bike was secured with a cable lock.  Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Clinical Sciences Research Building (CSRB) Bike Corral
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported his bicycle was missing from the CSRB bike corral. He parked his bicycle inside the corral, secured with a cable lock at 10:00 am. When he returned at 8:26 pm, the bike was gone.  A review of CCTV footage in the area showed an unidentified female entered the corral as someone left and stole the bicycle. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:  Protective Services responded to the Euclid Power Plant bike rack for a report of a possible bike theft. Upon arriving to the bike rack, officers observed a subject removing a wheel from a bike at the racks. The subject left the area as the officers approached. Officers followed the subject through Hope Plaza. The subject abandoned the wheel and other property before fleeing from campus. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:  Protective Services responded to the Euclid Power Plant bike rack for a missing bike. An unaffiliated subject parked his bike at the rack, improperly secured with a cable lock. When he returned to the rack, his bicycle was gone.  A review of the CCTV cameras in the area showed an unknown subject arrived to campus on the MetroLink and took the bike from the rack. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of her backpack which contained two laptops. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed a subject going through multiple buildings on campus, checking for open doors before leaving on the MetroLink. Protective Services officers canvassed the area and located the employee's backpack. The laptops were also recovered. Protective Services is investigating.
