Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:  Protective Services officers responded to the Euclid Power Plant bike rack after dispatchers observed a suspicious person take a bicycle from the rack. The subject was gone prior to officers arriving at the bike rack. A review of CCTV footage showed the subject rode the bike off campus through Hudlin Park into Forest Park. A BJC employee later returned to the rack and determined her bike was the one the subject stole. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Mid Campus Center (MCC) Dock
Synopsis:  A WUSM custodial technician reported the key to the trash compactor located at the MCC Dock was missing. Protective Services reviewed CCTV footage in the area. The footage showed an unidentified subject approached the trash compactor and took the key. The subject then left campus via the Metro. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Wohl Hospital 4th Floor
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported placing a full tin of popcorn in her drawer in her office at the end of the day on 12/9/2022. She secured her office and did not return to work until 12/13/2022. Upon returning to work, the employee noticed she was locked out of her computer due to the maxed amount of attempts to log in. She also noticed the tin of popcorn was in her drawer, however it was empty. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Center for Advanced Medicine 8th Floor
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported several small items had disappeared from work areas inside two office suites during the overnight hours throughout the past week.  Some items had been stored on desktops while others were kept in drawers.  It appeared drawers throughout the work space had been rummaged through. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: McDonnell Medical Sciences Building (MMSB) 3rd Floor
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported her AirPods were missing from her workspace on the 3rd floor of the MMSB. She last had them at the end of business on Friday 12/16/22 and noticed them missing upon returning to work Monday 12/19/2022. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Clinical Science Research Building (CSRB) Bike Corral
Synopsis:  A Barnes-Jewish employee made a delayed report of the theft of her bicycle. She parked the bicycle in the CSRB bike corral on 12/18/22. The bike was not secured to a rack inside. When she returned in the late evening of 12/18/22, the bike was gone.  A review of CCTV footage in the area showed a subject leaving the area of the corral at approximately 3:20pm on 12/18/22, riding a bicycle that matched the description of the employee's bicycle. Protective Services is investigating.

Location:  Couch Biomedical Research Building (CBRB) 3rd Floor
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of a piece of lab equipment that possibly occurred the night before. A different employee was placed on administrative leave the day before and was told not to return to campus. At that time, the employees personal property was still in the lab. The next morning, the employee's property was gone. Lab personnel assumed the employee had returned to campus against instruction. The lab equipment went missing at the same time. UPDATE: The lab equipment was found in a different area of the lab. No larceny occurred.

Location: Mid Campus Center (MCC) 11th Floor
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported her purse was missing from her cubicle on the 11th floor of the MCC. The employee received a fraud alert from her bank about suspicious transactions on her bank card. At that time, she noticed her purse was gone. The purse contained her bank card as well as two sets of car keys. Shortly after, another employee located a white coat and the employee's purse in the stairwell, however the bank card and keys were missing. The employee was able to secure her vehicle. A review of the CCTV footage in the area revealed an unidentified subject first stole a white coat from the 2nd floor of the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center before making his way to the MCC. After stealing the purse, the subject immediately left campus on the MetroLink. The employee reported the theft to the SLMPD.  Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported the theft of his lunch box from the 2nd floor of the Biotechnology Building. The employee placed his lunchbox in a room at approximately 12:00pm. He later saw an unidentified subject who he did not recognize on the 2nd floor of the building. Shortly thereafter, the employee realized his lunchbox was gone.  Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Barnes Service Building Clinical Simulation Conference Room
Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported a shared laptop was missing from a cabinet in the clinical simulation conference room in the Barnes Service Building. The employee last used the laptop on 1/11/2023, at which time she returned it to the cabinet. She attempted to retrieve it on 1/13/2023 and it was gone. The room is only accessible to WUSM faculty members, however they are often accompanied by medical students.  Protective Services is investigating.
