Synopsis: Protective Services officers observed a subject driving an overheated vehicle on S. Euclid Ave. A passenger exited the vehicle and went to Barnes Jewish Hospital while the driver parked the vehicle on Scott Ave. The driver then began walking on McKinley Ave. A Protective Services officer observed the driver toss a firearm into the bushes near the Couch Biomedical Research Building. The driver realized an officer saw him, retrieved the weapon and continued walking on McKinley Ave. Protective Services attempted to stop the him, however he fled toward Euclid Ave. Protective Services Officers pursued him on foot to the courtyard between the Bernard Becker Medical Library and the North Building where he was taken into custody. The firearm was found hidden in the courtyard under some dead leaves. The SLMPD arrived on scene and seized the weapon but released the driver who was a 17 year old juvenile.
Disposition: Referred to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Investigation Ongoing.
