Location: Euclid Avenue Bike Rack
Synopsis: A WUSM community member reported his bike had been stolen from the Euclid Avenue bike rack. He had last seen the bike when he parked it at 9:00 am. The bike was secured with a cable lock. A review of CCTV footage in the area showed an unknown subject take the bicycle at 4:33 p.m. Protective Services is investigating. Update: On 11/24/2020, the Washington University Police Department arrested a suspect for a bike theft on the Danforth campus. The suspect was found in possession of the bike stolen from the Medical Campus. The bike was recovered and returned to Protective Services. The suspect information will be turned over to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for consideration.

Synopsis: An unidentified subject stole a quantity of tools and a jacket from a vehicle parked at the Euclid Meters. The subject entered the vehicle by shattering a back window. The subject was observed leaving the area in a white cargo van as Barnes Jewish Hospital Public Safety (BJHPS) officers arrived on scene. The subject left in the van prior to BJHPS being able to confront him. The victim contacted the SLMPD and reported the theft. Protective Services is assisting the investigation.

Location: MetroLink Construction Site
Synopsis: A Protective Services officer observed an unidentified subject pushing a wheeled generator northbound on Taylor Avenue. Upon questioning, the subject advised he had been removed from the MetroLink due to having the generator on board. As such, he was relegated to pushing the generator to work. The officer believed the subject’s story and allowed the subject to leave. A subsequent review of the CCTV footage in area revealed the subject had arrived on campus without the generator and minutes later took the generator from the MetroLink construction site. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Clinical Sciences Research Building
Synopsis: Several pieces of lab equipment were reported missing from a locked laboratory in the Clinical Sciences Research Building. Members of the lab left and locked the lab on 12/8/2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m. The next day, during the course of business, the lab members noticed several cameras and hard drives with research information stored on them were missing. They are compiling a list of missing items and providing that list to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Cancer Research Building
Synopsis: A WUSM employee reported her backpack was stolen from an unsecured office in the Cancer Research Building. Officers located the backpack, discarded in a trash bin in the McDonnell Medical Sciences Building. Everything in the backpack was accounted for except an umbrella. A review of the CCTV footage in the area showed an unknown subject in the Cancer Research Building wearing the backpack. The subject attempted to enter multiple buildings before eventually leaving campus with the umbrella.

Location: Parking Lot at S. Taylor Ave. and Forest Park Ave.
Synopsis: A contractor reported the catalytic converter had been stolen from his work van that had been parked in the lot at S. Taylor Ave. and Forest Park Ave. the day before. The contractor already took the van in for repairs and did not wish to contact the SLMPD to make a report. The CCTV cameras in the area are too far from the parking lot to be able to determine a suspect or time in which the catalytic converter was stolen. No other thefts were reported in the same lot on that day.
Disposition: No suspects could be located. Investigation complete.

Synopsis: On 12/14/2020, a Transdev Shuttle employee reported the theft of three catalytic converters from the shuttle buses parked on the 1234 S. Kingshighway Parking Lot. The shuttles had last been used on 12/12/2020 at 1:30 a.m. and the theft was discovered Monday morning. A review of the CCTV footage in the area showed an unknown subject walking around several of the shuttles on 12/12/2020 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Protective Services is investigating.
