Synopsis: A catalytic converter was stolen from a university-owned box truck parked overnight at the 4533 Clayton Avenue Building. A review of the CCTV footage showed a vehicle enter the parking lot on 6/13/2021. A subject exited the vehicle and spent several minutes in the parking lot before ultimately stealing the catalytic converter and leaving campus.
Disposition: Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: A catalytic converter was stolen from a university-controlled box truck parked overnight at the 4533 Clayton Avenue Building. A review of the CCTV footage showed a vehicle enter the parking lot in the early evening of 6/15/2021. A subject exited the vehicle and was observed near the truck. He then re-entered his vehicle with a large silver object believed to be the catalytic converter. The subject is the same person who stole a catalytic converter from the same lot on 6/13/2021. A report was made to the SLMPD. Protective Services is assisting in the investigation.

Synopsis: A WUSM employee reported the theft of the front license plate from her vehicle. She believed the theft to have taken place during the business hours of 6/16/2021. Upon review of the CCTV cameras, it was determined the vehicle arrived on campus without a front plate and the theft did not occur on campus.

Location: 1234 S. Kingshighway Blvd.
Synopsis: A contract employee reported the theft of several catalytic converters from shuttles that had been parked overnight on the 1234 S. Kingshighway parking lot. A review of the CCTV cameras revealed two unknown subjects removed the catalytic converters at approximately 6:50 a.m. on 6/19/2021. The subjects drove a rental vehicle onto the lot through an entry point gate that had malfunctioned and was unintentionally open. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: A WUSM employee reported she had left an iPad on her desk on 6/18/2021. While working from home on 6/21/2021, she received a notification that someone had attempted to log onto the iPad. The employee came into work to see if a co-worker had attempted to login. She found the iPad was missing. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: A WUSM employee reported his university owned laptop was missing from the university owned vehicle he drives. The vehicle was parked outside the Genome Data Center. A review of CCTV footage did not reveal any suspicious activity.

Synopsis: A WUSM employee reported parking his bicycle in the CSRB bicycle corral on Saturday morning. When he returned on Sunday morning, he discovered the back tire was missing. No other bicycles in the corral appeared to have been tampered. A review of CCTV footage showed an unknown subject climbed the corral fence and removed the tire. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis: A community member reported the theft of his bicycle from inside the CSRB bike corral. The community member left his bicycle in the corral on 7/14/2021 and found it missing on 7/16/2021. A review of CCTV footage revealed that on 7/16/2021, an unknown subject gained entry to the corral by waiting for someone to exit. The subject removed the bicycle from the inside fence of the corral. It did not appear that the bicycle was secured by any kind of bike lock. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis: A WUSM community member reported some bicycle accessories, totaling $120, were stolen from his bike parked at the Euclid Power Plant bike rack. A review of CCTV footage showed a subject arrived on campus via the MetroLink and stole the items just prior to the community member returning to his bike. The subject was later located on campus by BJH Public Safety. He had the stolen property in his possession. He was taken into custody and turned over to the SLMPD.
Disposition: Suspect Arrested. Judicial Disposition Unknown

Synopsis: A WUSM employee reported a tool set worth approximately $4,000 was missing from the Wohl Hospital Building mechanical room. The employee last saw the tool set on 7/25/2021. The employee believed the room in which the tool was left was locked. Protective Services is investigating. UPDATE: On 8/10/2021, the tool set was located in a different part of campus.
