Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported that a University owned truck sounded extremely loud upon starting it up. After looking under the truck, employees discovered that the catalytic converter had been damaged, and someone had attempted to steal it.  A review of the CCTV footage in the area showed an unidentified truck parked near the University owned truck twice. The unidentified truck drove through several areas of campus, but did not attempt to steal anything else. Protective Services is investigating.

Location:  Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack
Synopsis:  A Protective Services officer noticed some graffiti on a trash can near the Euclid Power Plant bike rack. The officer noticed four unknown males on bicycles in the area approximately 15 minutes earlier. A review of the CCTV footage showed one of the unknown males wrote on the trashcan with a white, pen like item. The subjects also removed a wheel from a bike secured at the rack, however they left the wheel behind when they departed the area. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A Protective Services officer located five vehicles with broken windows parked at the Euclid Meters. One vehicle belonged to a WUSM employee. She reported nothing stolen or missing. A review of the CCTV footage in the area showed an unknown dark, four door sedan occupied by two unknown subjects entered the lot at approximately 11:00 pm. They are believed to be responsible for the damage. A report was filed with the SLMPD.
Disposition: Referred to the SLMPD.

Vandalism

Location: Cancer Research Building, McDonnell Medical Sciences Building, North Building
Synopsis: Facilities Operations reported having found vandalized walls and doors in several campus buildings. An unknown person had used a felt-tip pen to draw a generally continuous line on walls of the four buildings’ interconnected basement areas. In addition to the generally continuous line, the culprit wrote apparent directions to himself, including “turn right” and arrows pointing “Home.” As a result, we suspect the vandal may be a homeless squatter who has found a secluded area to sleep. Protective Services is investigating

Synopsis:  A vehicle driven by an unknown person drove over a curb on S. Euclid Ave., striking and damaging a planted tree. The vehicle sustained significant front end damage and immediately left campus without reporting the collision. Protective Services is investigating.

Location: 718 Core Residence Apartments
Synopsis:  A WUSM student parked her vehicle in the circle drive in front of the 718 Core Residence Apartments at approximately 6:30pm. When she returned around 12:15am, the driver's side of the vehicle had two long scratches from the rear door to the driver's door, as though it had been "keyed." A review of CCTV footage in the area did not provide any definitive cause. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A Ford SUV drove through the gate arm of the 818 Core Apartment Residences surface parking lot. The unknown driver did not report the damage, and instead left campus shortly after. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported a sign was damaged in the Clayton Taylor Garage. A review of the CCTV footage in the area revealed a vehicle struck the sign on 4/16/22 and did not report the incident to Protective Services. Protective Services is investigating.

Synopsis:  A WUSM employee reported her vehicle was damaged while parked in the Clayton Garage. The employee parked her vehicle in the morning and upon returning in the afternoon, noticed damage to the front bumper/fender. Protective Services is investigating.

Incident No. 2206-00207 (Protective Services Incident)

Location: 1234 S. Kingshighway Blvd.
Synopsis:  A Protective Services officer observed damage to the perimeter fence on the west side of 1234 S. Kingshighway Blvd.  A severely damaged Dodge Charger was parked on the street near the damage. Protective Services contacted the SLMPD who responded to the scene. The SLMPD determined the vehicle was reported stolen. The SLMPD had the vehicle towed from the area.  A review of the CCTV cameras in the area showed the vehicle driving erratically before parking on the street. Three unknown subjects exited the vehicle and left the area on foot.
Disposition: Referred to the SLMPD. Disposition Unknown.
