Synopsis:  On 6/11/2023, Protective Services officers located a subject sleeping near the north entrance to the McDonnell Pediatric Research Building.  Officers verbally warned him against future trespass and escorted him from campus. On 6/12/2023, Protective Services officers observed the same subject loitering near the Euclid Power Plant Bike Rack. The subject was taken into custody, identified, and released with a written warning against future trespass. A BOLO was disseminated to campus security.
Disposition: Suspect Identified.

Location: Clinical Sciences Research Building (CSRB) Bike Corral
Synopsis:   On 6/11/2023, a WUSM employee made a delayed report of a bike theft from the CSRB bike corral. The employee placed his bike in the corral on 6/10/2023 at 6:45 pm. He did not secure the bicycle to the rack within the corral. At approximately 9:42 pm, a subject was able to reach over the fence and access the gate handle to open the corral entry gate. The subject then stole the bicycle. A BOLO was disseminated to campus security and the subject was identified by an officer. An updated BOLO has been disseminated to campus security for the person responsible for the theft.

Assault

Location: Hope Plaza/MetroLink Stairs Entry
Synopsis:   Protective Services officers responded to assist a Metro Public Safety officer who was fighting with an unaffiliated subject. Metro Public Safety received reports that the subject was harassing people at the Central West End MetroLink platform. Metro Public Safety officers escorted the subject from Metro property. When Metro Public Safety officers attempted to return to the platform, the subject verbally engaged them and followed them. The Metro officer put his hand out and warned the subject to stay away. The subject slapped the officer’s hand out of the way and struck the officer in the face with a closed fist. The subject attempted to strike the officer again but missed. The officer tackled the subject to the ground at which time Protective Services officers arrived and assisted in controlling the subject. Both the subject and the Metro officer had scrapes and small lacerations from the altercation. An open pocket knife was found hanging from the subject’s waistband after he was detained. The SLMPD responded and took the subject into custody.

Location: Ambulatory Cancer Center (ACC) Contractor Parking Lot
Synopsis:   A contractor working on the ACC construction site reported a key fob was stolen from her vehicle. The contractor left the vehicle unlocked with the hope of preventing a window from being broken should the vehicle be targeted for theft. When she returned to the vehicle, the center console was opened and rummaged through. The only item taken from the vehicle was the key fob. Protective Services is investigating.
