Drugs and Alcohol on Campus

The manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of illicit drugs and the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of alcoholic beverages on university property, or as part of its activities, is prohibited. Protective Services will assist local police with enforcement of Federal and State alcohol and drug laws on campus.

A drug-free environment is promoted on campus. Violations of Washington University’s Drug and Alcohol Policy will be handled according to existing policies and procedures covering the conduct of administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Anyone who violates the law or University policy is subject to discipline within the University. Students are subject to discipline under the University Student Conduct Code, with sanctions ranging from warnings to expulsion. Faculty and staff members are subject to a range of sanctions, up to and including dismissal. Those who violate the law are also subject to criminal prosecution.
