Multi-carrier Distributed Antenna System Group K Update

Sent on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

A Multi-carrier Distributed Antenna System (MDAS) will be installed over the next 18-24 months to provide cellular service for ATT, Sprint-T-Mobile, and Verizon connections throughout the Medical Center Campus. The construction will be completed in phases targeting specific building groups.

Current Status:
Construction in the following five buildings is complete:

  1. North Medical Bldg (NB) Bldg. 1,
  2. Becker Library (ML) Bldg. 13,
  3. Cancer Research Bldg (CR) Bldg. 2,
  4. McDonnell Science (MC/MS) Bldg. 12,
  5. South Medical Bldg (SB) Bldg. 3.

Infrastructure phase (installation of cable, antennas & testing equipment) is now complete. You may still see few of our technicians running follow-up tests in these buildings for the next two weeks.
Swap-over (i.e., move existing Sprint signal to new MDAS) is complete. AT&T & Verizon signals are now broadcasting in the buildings mentioned above.

Who’s impacted?

Staff, patients and families within the designated areas should experience limited disruptions to egress/ingress. Vendors will be accessing above ceiling areas with or without a lift and will work to ensure that they are not blocking access in hallways, patient rooms, offices, etc.

What do you need to know?
Contact the service desk if you have any questions regarding the in-building cellular system.

Will you receive additional communications about this?
Communications will be sent via email to alert of the next areas that will be impacted until the installation is complete.
