The purpose of this outage is to perform maintenance and testing on the main electrical switchgear, located in the basement of the North Building. This outage will affect the following buildings: NORTH, SOUTH, CANCER, BECKER LIBRARY and OLIN. BECKER LIBRARY and OLIN share the same electrical feed that is required to be de-energized; therefore, these buildings will be completely shut-down and without normal power for the duration of the outage. There will be generator emergency power in these buildings for the duration of the outage. While NORTH, SOUTH and CANCER will have all normal power available, most of the major mechanical systems that serve these buildings will be shut down during this outage. This includes domestic hot and cold water pumps, lab air, vacuum, control air, chilled water and heating hot water pumps. The operations of the labs and offices in NORTH, SOUTH and CANCER could be affected by these systems being shut-down.
