Sent on behalf of St. Louis Children’s Hospital
Over the next several weeks, security enhancements will be added at St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s Kingshighway campus to provide a more secure environment.
This week, you noticed stands being installed at the 2nd-floor entrance from the SLCH Visitor Garage as well as the employee entrance off the link on the second floor. The stands are scanners that are part of a walk-through, smart technology weapons detection system that we are preparing to launch soon.
Please stay tuned for more information in the weeks ahead about this system and other enhancements through Children’s Chat, huddles, and other communication channels. Please feel free to share this information with visitors as well.
Additionally, this system is being installed and activated this week at the two first-floor Emergency Department (ED) entrances. Starting Friday, January 6, all SLCH and WUSM employees, including those who work in the ED, must enter the hospital through the 2nd-floor entrances to access the ED. While rolling out this system, employees cannot enter the hospital through the first-floor ED entrances. We will announce through our communication channels when employees can enter again through the ED entrances.
Public safety officers will continue to be stationed at the ED 24/7 to monitor the scanners. The convenient walk-through system is used at major venues worldwide and is safe for pregnant individuals and those with medical devices and equipment.
These additional enhancements keep our team safe and help us fulfill our mission to do what’s right for kids. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in the coming weeks as we make these improvements.
For any questions, please contact Dwynn Isringhausen, Public Safety manager.
