Sent on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
A short two and a half years ago, the first of two tower cranes was erected along Kingshighway Blvd. to lift and move equipment and supplies for construction of Plaza West Tower, the 16-story inpatient facility at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Those cranes have lifted and placed tons of materials and supplies. The weekend of August 16-18, one of those cranes will be dismantled.
Both tower cranes have continued to lift equipment to the rooftop following the June 11 topping out of Plaza West Tower; however, both cranes are no longer needed as construction of the structure, rooftop equipment and exterior winds down.
Starting at 6 pm on Friday, August 16, work will begin to prepare to disassemble the crane closest to Barnes-Jewish Plaza. Contractors will close one lane of northbound Kingshighway, north of Barnes-Jewish Plaza. Two northbound lanes will remain open; southbound traffic will not be affected.
Contractors expect to complete the work no later than Sunday evening.
