Join BJC, BJH and WUSM leadership at 8 am August 28, to commemorate the opening of the new pedestrian bridge across Barnes-Jewish Plaza and the Plaza Coffee Bar. All are welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Following brief remarks, John Lynch, MD, BJH president, will officially cut the ribbon to open the new bridge and coffee bar. Grab a bridge-inspired cookie and visit the photo station on the new bridge to take selfies and team photos. Post your bridge photos (including you and/or your teammates) on the BJH Viva Engage page with the hashtag #BJHPlazaEntry to win 50 BJC Shines points.
Five lucky winners will be chosen on September 10.
To celebrate the grand opening of the Plaza Coffee Bar, BJH team members can also enter to win one of 50 $5 coupons toward a coffee or beverage of choice at the new location or at Parkview Tower Coffee and Gifts. The winners will be chosen on Sept. 10.
The new bridge represents another important part of the Campus Renewal Project. Plaza Entry includes:
- new lobbies, elevators, and stairs in the Plaza Garage opening August 28
- the pedestrian bridge and coffee bar opening on August 28
- the new Plaza Gift and Flower Shop, which opened earlier this year
- the complete renovation and expansion of the main and street-level lobbies, which will include new elevators and stairs

Plan ahead! The existing coffee shop closes on August 23
The coffee stand on the north end of the existing bridge will close permanently at 2:30 pm Friday, August 23. The new bar officially opens in its new location immediately following the August 28 ribbon cutting.
