The project construction manager BSI Constructors, Inc., began mobilization on site the week of December 23th.
While hampered by weather, work in the plaza began the week of January 6th.
Initial construction will involve excavating the rock from the planter beds and removing the sidewalk areas within the existing job site fence. Work will also include the location of existing utilities and preparation for new work. Work will begin on the north side of the building, with some limited testing of demolition methods on the elevated deck area to ensure no disruption to the building. (See sketch).
Project completion is currently scheduled for late spring/early summer 2026.
Please note that construction in the plaza will involve improvements to all areas of the plaza, including those currently outside the construction fence. The work will be phased, and pedestrian walk paths are expected to be temporarily rerouted around each phase.
If your work on campus takes you in or around the BJC IOH building and Hope Plaza, please anticipate shutdowns, disruptions, and inconveniences associated with the construction of this project.
Your patience and cooperation while we work to restore the plaza is sincerely appreciated.
