OFMD will be completing a series of outages to replace an automatic transfer switch (ATS) that serves several critical systems in the building. (An automatic transfer switch (ATS) is a device that automatically switches the power supply from the main/normal utility electrical source to a backup generator when it detects a power outage.)
Monday, January 13th from 5:00 am to 7:00 am: OFMD electricians will run temporary power to critical controls served by the ATS.
Tuesday, January 14th from 5:00 am to 7:00 am: OFMD electricians will run temporary power to critical controls served by the ATS.
Wednesday, January 15th from 5:00 am to 9:00 am: The contractor will demo the existing ATS switch and make temporary electrical connections.
Thursday, January 16th from 5:00 am to 9:00 am: The contractor will complete the new ATS installation and confirm that the unit is fully functional.
Friday, January 17th, from 5:00 am to 7:00 am The final outage will allow OFMD electricians to remove temporary power and restore the original power connections to the critical controls served by the ATS.
- NO work may occur in the BSL3 labs during the work periods listed above.
- There will be intermittent reduced exhaust airflow to all the non-BSL3 laboratories in the building. No work should occur in fume hoods during the work periods listed above.
- The supply air to the labs including all the BSL3 labs will be off intermittently. Supply air and space temperature for these areas will be affected. Spaces may be warmer/cooler than normal during the outage.
