Facilities Operations Update

September 15: Barnes-Jewish Hospital Second Floor Corridor Restriction Begins, a 15-New Donor Wall Feature to be Installed

Sent on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Donor recognition will be reimagined in the second-floor corridor when a new installation is unveiled in November. In the meantime, some work to prepare the corridor will begin on September 15.

Contractors will start by installing barriers on both sides of the corridor. Then they will remove the current finishes and install additional power and data. This will take about six weeks.

During the demolition:

  • The corridor will remain open, although it will be narrowed to 7’7” for four weeks.
  • Stairs and elevators will remain accessible.
  • The information desk, security and badging area is not affected.
  • Once the prep work is completed, the vendor will install prefabricated display panels.

The vendor installation of the display panels will require a corridor closure. We will share details as the date nears.

About the new donor installation:
  • Highlight the impact of donor giving on patient care, experience, and outcomes, featuring stories on a diversity of patients, donors, caregivers, and programs.
  • Align the look and feel of the donor hall with interior renovations to match the new park theme interior design.
  • Express gratitude and recognize donors who give $10,000+ to SLCH annually, have included SLCH in their estate plans, and whose cumulative giving is $1M+
  • Enhance the hallway to welcome families and create a sense of wonder and fun. Components include overhead sky LED screens that change with the time of day, allowing children to interact with them, large video screens, and St. Louis family attractions highlighted in an interactive alcove where children can play.
