October 13-17: City to Pave Kingshighway

Sent on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

The City of St. Louis will begin a project to repave Kingshighway Boulevard at the Medical Campus on October 13. Contractor work will start at 9 p.m., after the heaviest evening traffic, and end by 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. They expect to conclude the milling, which involves grinding and removing the top layers of the street surface, and the repaving of the three-block stretch from Barnes-Jewish Plaza north to Forest Park Avenue by October 25.

The contractor will start milling the northbound lanes on October 13. They will keep one to two lanes open for traffic and maintain access to the emergency departments. Once the entire stretch is milled, they will pave it with asphalt. Then they will mill and pave the southbound lanes. Restriping of the lanes in both directions is the final step after all repaving is completed.
The City will post signage to alert motorists. Please see the map that shows the location of work.

Although the work will take place overnight, the lanes will be uneven and in various stages of milling and paving during those two weeks. Team members and physicians should avoid Kingshighway during these two weeks or expect to encounter delays.
