Fixture Contracting will use a lift to install the horizontal lifeline system on the walkway between EPNEC and FLTC. This work is scheduled for October 20 to October 31 and is weather-dependent. The work will be performed in 3 phases.
Workers will start on the EPNEC side, with the lift set on the walk path and redirecting foot traffic through the no-parking area around the lift with cones and warning tape so that there is no work overhead. Workers will then work towards FLTC, away from Hope Plaza.
• Phase 1: Install all stanchions between EPNEC and MCC link connection.
• Phase 2: Move the lift to the BJCIH side of the walkway, with stanchions installed from the cross to the Metro platform.
• Phase 3: Install remaining stanchions.
The stanchions will be welded to the top base plates and threaded before arrival to speed up the installation. Work must be performed inside the link to permanently secure the posts, with a work zone diameter of approximately 3 feet on the east side of the link. Plastic barriers will be erected to enclose the 3-foot work area. All sections of the link will remain open at all times.
The goal is to have the lift out of the way as soon as possible to accommodate the Hope Plaza restoration schedule. This work should have minimal impacts on interior and exterior pedestrian and staff foot traffic and vehicular traffic on Nash Way.
