With progress continuing on the Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza Restoration, it is now time to begin the transition into the sidewalk paving replacements outside the current construction fence.
After coordinating sidewalk replacement closures with building access and egress, we are now ready to begin a series of Phase 2 Sidewalk Shutdowns around the Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza.
The plan is to close sections of sidewalk around the plaza, remove and replace the sidewalk paving, then open the new section and close another section, working our way around the plaza while coordinating pedestrian foot traffic and building access/egress.
The first section of sidewalk paving to be replaced is the Clinical Sciences Research Building North Tower Addition (CSRB NTA)/McDonnell Pediatrics Research Building (MPRB) sidewalk area from Wohl Circle to the MPRB. To coordinate with building access/egress, this paving replacement will be broken into two to six-week work portions. Please see the site plan for more information.
The CSRB NTA/MPRB sidewalk area from Wohl Circle to MPRB is scheduled to close at 6 a.m. on November 17 through 6 a.m. on February 9, 2026, in 2 phases.
Once closed, all pedestrian traffic through the Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza to the west (St. Louis Children’s Hospital, CSRB, Wohl Hospital and Wohl Clinic) will need to re-route through a building (MPRB, Steven & Susan Lipstein BJC Institute of Health, Mid Campus Center) up to the 2nd floor link and west to those buildings.
Please expect this change in pedestrian walkway routing when you arrive on campus on Monday, November 17.
If your work on campus takes you to or around the Steven & Susan Lipstein BJC Institute of Health and the Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza, please anticipate shutdowns, disruptions, and inconveniences associated with this construction project. Your patience and cooperation while we work to restore the plaza are sincerely appreciated.
