5/26: Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza Restoration – Steven & Susan Lipstein BJC Institute of Health (BJCIH) Front Entry and Phase 3B Sidewalk Closure

As part of the Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza Restoration, the construction team has closed the front entrance of BJCIH for renovation and the front entrance sidewalk for replacement.

Due to adverse weather, unforeseen conditions, and delays in material deliveries, the reopening of the BJCIH front entrance is tentatively scheduled to extend through Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 6 am.

The Phase 3B portion of the sidewalk closure was established the week of March 30, 2026, and is tentatively planned to continue through Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 6 am, when the barriers will be moved, and the sidewalk near the Metrolink Station will be replaced.

The current pedestrian traffic routing through Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza is shown in the image below. Access to BJCIH is available through the Farrell Learning & Teaching Center, Mid Campus Center, and McDonnell Pediatric Research Building via the second-floor link, using a badge.

Please expect the current pedestrian walkway routing to remain in effect through Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

If your work on campus takes you in or around the BJCIH building and Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza, please anticipate shutdowns, disruptions, and inconveniences associated with this project’s construction.

Your patience and cooperation while we work to restore the plaza is sincerely appreciated.
