Overnight work to demolish the shuttered bridges connecting Rand Johnson (RJ) and Southwest Tower (SWT) began on August 19. Nightly work will take place from 8 p.m. through 7 a.m. and continue nightly for approximately three weeks, except for Sunday nights.
The work is likely to cause noise in the northeast section of the Plaza West Tower. While the construction team regrets the noise this will cause, the demolition is taking place overnight to minimize disruption to adjacent ORs and cath labs during daytime hours.
A hospital-wide Quiet at Night initiative is underway, and all new inpatients receive a quiet kit from Concierge Services the day of admission. In addition, earplugs are available in the storeroom on each unit, and patients may request earplugs from their care team. If someone does not receive their quiet kit or a unit requires additional earplugs they can contact Concierge Services at 314-362-5196 or gs-conciergeservice@bjc.org.
