A project to renovate the emergency department (ED) entry and waiting areas will start August 24 with the closing of the two easternmost parking spaces in the ED parking area in front of the hospital. The area will be secured by construction fencing, and adjacent windows will be protected.
Contractors will conduct exploratory structural work prior to closing the entire drop-off/parking area to build a new canopy. Details of that closure will be shared later this month.

ED project overview
In all, the ED project includes the creation of a new ED entrance, including an exterior canopy; reconfiguration and expansion of triage; new security and information stations; and an expanded waiting area. It’s being renovated in phases to minimize the disruption.
The second phase, which includes triage, the interior entrance, and corridor, will begin this fall. More information will be shared closer to the start of this phase.
The project team has worked closely with leadership of the ED, public safety, valet parking, guest relations and others to develop a solid plan to accommodate families, physicians, and ambulances arriving at the ED.
