Well before the grand opening events, before the October 2 opening of the new cafeteria, and before the first patient is cared for in Plaza West Tower, a little-known but very important process was underway in the background – activation.
The activation team began early this year, coordinating a well-orchestrated installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment, as well as signage, graphics, artwork, and other elements, to prepare Plaza West Tower for patients and visitors. They ensured every piece of equipment was tested and fully operational, coordinating with dozens of departments, so when it came time for team member and physician training, everything was ready.
You can learn some of what it takes to activate 660,000 square feet of hospital space in this video.
